Web Studio FAQ & Answers

How do I add a link (or links) to a portion of a graphic?

This is easy to do...but not obvious.

If you want to designate certain areas in the picture to have links you'll use a transparent graphic to do it.

First you'll need a solid color graphic to do it with. Go to the Resources section of our website and click on the Content Gallery link. Then click on the Signs link to see the signs collection of content. This collection has solid colored circles, rectangles and diamonds in it.

Next, click on the red "Signs Collection" link below the sample sign graphics. This will start the signs collection download to your computer. Tell it to Open or Run when you see the Download dialog. This will start the download and then automatically install the signs in your Signs Gallery in your WebStudio.

Next time you go to the Signs Gallery you'll see a few new entries on the left side. They will have little yellow Folder icons on their upper left. This means you can double click on them to open them to see additional content. Click on the Opened Yellow Folder icon on the galley itself to return to the main Signs Gallery.

Once you have the new signs, double click on the circle sign in the gallery. Then drag one onto your page and put it on your graphic. Resize it as necessary to approximate the area you want the link to be on. If you think the rectangle or diamond shapes would work better, use them.

Once you have done that, drag the link onto the circle. That puts the link on that area on your picture.

Next, you'll make it transparent so you won't see the circle. Right click on the circle and choose TransparentColor > ChooseColor from the resulting menu. When the Choose Color dialog comes up, just click in the circle and it will be transparent. Then click OK. Now you have a link on an area of your graphic.

Repeat this process as many times as needed to put all the links you need on your graphic.
